Happy holidays!!

Dear friends,
This year chameckilerner is turning 24 years old, and as the wonderful Bette Davis used to say, “Aging is not for sissies”.  It has been an inspiring journey, one we could not have done without you, our board, and our families.

2016 was particularly exciting for us. SAMBA #2 continues to travel around the world, including showings at the Wexner Center for The Arts in Ohio, SOFT POWER-Arte Brazil at Kunsthal KAdE in the Netherlands, LEEDs International Film Festival in the UK, and the Hamilton International Film Festival in Canada. ESKAZISER had a 6-week run at THE BOILER, the Annex space at Pierogi Gallery in New York, followed by screenings at The Flint Institute of Arts in Michigan and the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. chameckilerner created the performance/manifestation ABRE ALASand a video named LOOP 1979, and is filming, still this week, a piece called 2 DOGS.

These coming years will be challenging for all of us, and it will be more important than ever for art to exist, to be committed, be brave and to elevate. Standing still is not an option, and we are not planning to.

The latest

In January we screened Samba #2 and our new 4-channel installation ESKAZISER at EMPAC, Troy, NY. It was freezing at Troy, but the audience came and the feedback was overwhelmingly good.

In April, with help of the Emergency Funds from the Foundation of Contemporary Arts, we travelled to Bucharest, Romania where we showed both  ESKAZISER  and  Samba#2 at the White Night festival, the biggest art event of the year, where galleries, art organizations and experimental venues  open their doors to the public until 4 in the morning.

Samba #2 have won the Honorable Prize at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival and at InShadow Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. In addition, Samba #2 continues to be screened at many festivals around the world.

We had a retrospective of or video work at Festival Dança em Foco, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where we also taught a workshop. For the retrospective we created two new videos, Between Chamecki and Lerner and Exercise #4, which we hope to show you very soon.

During July and August, chameckilerner was also part of the group show The Transportation Business, curated by Gregory Volk, at the Jane Lombard Gallery together with an incredible pool of artists,  that includes, Sebastiaan Bremer, Mónica de la Torr, Skawennati, Klara Hobza, Fred Tomaselli, Ragna Róbertsdóttir, to name a few.

In October, we went to São Paulo, Brazil to be part of the 19th Festival de Arte Contemporânea Sesc-Videobrasil – an incredible assemblage of artists featuring work from and about the global south.

But maybe the most exciting news, is chameckilerner ‘s upcoming solo show at the Pierogi Gallery in NYC in February and March of 2016.
